A Little About Us
Our company, Source Ed-Ventures Pte Ltd, started off as a Training Centre in 1995, specializing in children’s programmes, family life camps, and books/publications. Few years on, the Lord led us into something totally different as we bought the Riverboat in 1997. Our prayer then was, “Lord, if it is in Your will, transfer this boat into Your Kingdom, and we will do Your work on board.” Apparently, it was His will. After praying, we felt that we should start a restaurant on board the Riverboat. Having no experience in the F&B trade, we teamed up with some more experienced friends to develop the Santa Fe Tex-Mex Grill concept. The first Santa Fe outlet opened in Boat Quay in 1999. Meanwhile, we were searching for a site to moor the Riverboat, which was at that time undergoing extensive retrofitting works at a shipyard. We received a prophetic word that we’d be going to ‘Marina South’, together with the verse, ‘It is not the healthy that need the doctor, but the sick, I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.’ (Mark 2:17). However, the time was not ripe, and we instead steamed into Sentosa for our first term of business from 2001 to 2006.Mid 2006, we got the news that we had to vacate our berthing space at Sentosa to make way for the upcoming Integrated Resort. The Lord remembered His Word to us, and took us to Marina South Pier in December 2006, where we are berthed and operating to this day. Our vision for the Riverboat is to be a place where the River of God flows, where His people can gather in an informal setting, enjoying God together and encouraging one another in the most holy faith. A friend of ours had a prophetic vision in which she saw the Riverboat surrounded by many small boats, and we interpret this as the Riverboat being the link between various churches, organizations, ministries, and individuals. We are trusting God to lead us, His pilgrim people, on to new things. Let’s continue to be ever thrilled and excited as we live out this adventure.
